What is Grip Studs® Model 1400 (Ice Resurfacer & Motorcycle Tire Studs)?

Model 1400 is a screw-in traction stud built with a solid tungsten carbide core and patented wide-auger threads. It's designed to re-stud worn ice resurfacer machine tires instead of replacing them outright, and also fits motorcycle and off-road vehicle tires that need reliable traction on ice, snow, and frozen surfaces.

How do they stay secure in the tire?

The wide-auger thread bites into the rubber to increase surface contact and holding power, keeping the studs in place under load without glue or adhesives.

What types of tires can they be used on?

Model 1400 works with:
• Ice resurfacer machine tires
• Street motorcycle tires and dual-sport rear tires
• Off-road pickup, Jeep, and truck tires
• Forklift tires (outdoor use only - loading docks, parking lots, and outdoor yards)

How many studs should I install?

Motorcycle tires: 100–150 studs per tire
Vehicle tires: 50–75 studs per tire
Ice resurfacer machine tires: 50–75 studs per tire

Why choose the Model 1400?

Re-studding an ice resurfacer's existing tread costs less than buying new pre-studded tires, and keeps usable rubber in service longer. With a 2.8 mm prominence and 13.5 mm penetration, Model 1400 holds traction on iced roads, packed snow, and frozen ground across both machine and vehicle tires.

Installation notes

Easy installation with a variable-speed drill; no pre-drilling required. Do not use impact tools.
• 100 and 150 packs include an installation tool (#4500)
• 1000-count bulk boxes do not include an installation tool; tool can be purchased separately

Important information
